flashback Friday!
i just came up with that phrase when i decided to just update my poor outdated blog.
:(
well as you guys know, Penang Free School presented you: -
Romeo and Juliet: The Revelation
for 3 consecutive days: June 14th to 16th.
things went well for all 3 days.
photos are adapted from various sources, including my phone.
x)
and this is me: Nurse Angelica.
:D
to be honest, i have like auditioned to try to make it for the main role or even the role that is gonna make me beautiful.
something like Juliet (which i never expect to get and never gotten) or Rosaline (Juliet's cousin which i never gotten either).
i really didn't expect to get the chambermaid.
now, i know it sounds a little... degrading being a chambermaid but all of that perspective changed as soon as practices started.
good friend slash director, Tasha told me (this is from a rough memory):
'i chose you to be the nurse because i know you can play the role well.'
and since i convinced myself that i'm better of not being a student director, i decided to bring more focus in not disappointing anybody.
there were a number of outings to increase the bond between all of us which i have updated some in the previous posts.
:)
and so here are the photos for the drama itself.

oh, the joy of make-up and having your hair styled is just the nicest feelings ever.
xD
yeaa, i really like the feeling of it when they place eyeshadow, when they curl your hair...
moving on, these are some scene snapshots taken from various sources.
i shall guide you through the scenes.
Act 1 Scene 1: Marketplace- Duel with the Masked Knight.
Romeo: 'looking for me?'
Juliet: 'you wished.'
Act 1 Scene 2: Montague's family room.
Lord Montague: 'through our son's marriage with the Princess, we would be able to expand our control over the city... you are indeed the lady of the house!'
Lady Montague: 'only for my dear husband.'
Act 1 Scene 3: Juliet's chamber.
Juliet was forced to join the ball and meet Count Paris, and after that marry him.
famous quote by Nurse Angelica: 'oh dearie, why do you cry?'
'smile, though your heart is aching; smile, though even though it's breaking.
when there are clouds in the sky, you'll get by.'

:)

Act 1 Scene 4: 'you're insecure, don't know what for.'
Act 2 Scene 1: The Masked Ball.
Count Paris: 'How can YOU refuse?'
highlight of the whole play: the balcony scene.
Juliet: 'have you ever been in love, Mr. Moon?'

Romeo: 'please, don't take such beautiful eyes away from me.'
Juliet: 'you're very eloquent.'

Nurse Angelica: 'you must know that i have been with you all this while and i will be in future as well. no matter what happens.'
Chapel: after the marriage, the nurse literally runs away with the best man and the priest as Romeo embraces Juliet into his arms.
Romeo and Juliet: 'if you love me for me.'
INTERVAL:
and this marks the first time i've ever sung officially, entertaining the public.
:D
oh, that excitement and nervousness.
accompanying: Dexter Tan.
Celine Dion: 'because you loved me.'
Christina Perri: 'i've loved you for a thousand years, i'll love you for a thousand more.
Tybalt: 'what's this? i spy Montagues on the streets.'
Mercutio: 'why do you spit such baseless words. if you are a man, you will fight with me.'
Tybalt: 'and now, i shall avenge my cousin.'

Tybalt: 'the fates shall choose you.'
Romeo: 'pick up your sword for i highly doubt that.'
(and Romeo avenges his cousin, Mercutio.)

Prince: 'if the young Montague is found within the walls of Verona ever again, he shall be immediately put to death.'
(justification of Tybalt's murder.)
Lady Montague: 'how could you? do you not understand the pains of a mother? how could you? are you not a mother yourself?'
Act 3 Scene 2 (second half): Juliet's Chamber.
Nurse Angelica: 'Tybalt is dead, and Romeo has been banished. Romeo killed Tybalt, and his punishment was banishment.'
Juliet: 'these are my tears of grief for Tybalt's death and Romeo's banishment.'
(after that, Lord and Lady Capulet enter. Lord Capulet announces that the marriage of Juliet with Count Paris has been brought forward.'
Nurse Angelica: 'hush Juliet, i'll find a way for you.'
Juliet: 'how? unless you take my life!'
Nurse Angelica: 'there is a way. i shall seek for the priest, he will know how to solve this.'

Fool: 'save Juliet, run away form Verona. it is Mercutio's final wish, may he not die in futile.'

Act 4 Scene 2 (second half): Montague Chamber.
Romeo: 'forgive me mother. father, this is our goodbye.'
Lady Montague: 'oh, stop him! he's my son! stop him. don't send him away!'
Lord Montague: 'our son Romeo is finally living up to his mistakes and responsibilities.'
back to the town: Capulets on the Left, Montagues on the Right.
Capulet #1: 'YOU KILLED OUR PEOPLE! THERE HAS NOT BEEN GOOD CELEBRATIONS BUT DEATH IN OUR FAMILY!'
Montague #1: 'THAT IS A BLATANT LIE COMING FROM YOUR VILE LIPS, YOU CORRUPTED CAPULETS!'
Juliet: 'these sudden joys have sudden endings. for the honor of Capulet, i must finish what i started.'
Act 4 Scene 3: Capulet's house.
Juliet: 'as you wished, Lord Capulet. the head of the Montague heir.'
Lord Capulet: 'so it seems she is truly dead. then you are free to go.

Juliet: 'together, forever and always. i love you, Romeo.'
Romeo: 'and i love you, Juliet.'
Romeo and Juliet: 'a time for us at last to see; a life worthwhile for you and me.'
THE END.
last but not least, the curtain call.
this shot seems more classic compared to the other one which i didn't have my eyes closed but my curtsy pose made me look like a cupcake.
grand finale.
;)
most of the cast and crew.
